FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Spotify to hold artist summit for promotion of “Close to Home” service

LOS ANGELES, CA – Spotify will host an invitational event for artists and influencers to promote its new “Close to Home” feature, set to release in early November, which aims to connect listeners with new artists based on their geographic location.

The informational event will be held at Spotify’s Los Angeles regional headquarters and intends to teach artists how to benefit from the new feature. Spotify Board Chairman, Daniel Ek, who will commence the event, said that the summit gives Spotify artists the opportunity to learn more about what Spotify offers and to connect them with other passionate music creators.

Attendees will enjoy a full day of presentations and live performances celebrating the launch of “Close to Home.” Performances include international and domestic artists, with Los Angeles’ FINNEAS and Steve Lacy, Columbia’s Maluma and Stockholm’s Alesso headlining the event.

Spotify’s “Close to Home” service intends to introduce listeners to new artists by enabling users to see what local artists are trending in their area. The new service will be available on Spotify Premium, though free users will be able to access “Close to Home” during the initial three months after rollout.

While requiring users to enable location services, the new feature prioritizes privacy and safety by encrypting any location detected through the app. Once enabled by the user, the “Close to Home” feature will appear as a tab on Spotify’s homepage. Users will then be prompted to select how they’d like to receive recommendations categorized by country.

Spotify looks forward to using this new service as a means of connecting users with their community and with a diverse group of artists.
